Last summer I undertook a significant research project looking at how British police forces use Facebook to engage with their communities. I have shared this work with a number of colleagues and I have been encouraged to share this more widely.
Everyone is to busy these days so I have split the project into a number of shorter themed updates which I will post over the next few weeks. These findings from have already been shared with Facebook and many forces via College of Policing learning events. Further information about how my own force uses Facebook can be found by reading Facebook’s Case Study of Staffordshire Police available via this link
The series of posts will cover:
- Demographics of fans (published 21 March 2014)
- Content from both the users and professionals point of view (published 28 March 2014)
- Being credible and trusted (published 4 April 2014)
- Reach and engagement (published 11 April 2014)
The final post will highlight the key issues facing forces in using Facebook in the future. I hope some of you find it useful and I welcome any feedback.
